Championship Qualifier - Rd 1 - 12.5.18

The first of the Club Championship Qualifying Rounds was played on Saturday, 12th May, 2018, in fine sunny weather with a light wind from the south east.    This was reflected in the scores submitted by the 54 entrants who took part.     The eventual winner with an excellent score of 67(2)65(bih) was Iain Clark, and he also recorded the lowest gross score.     He was followed on the same net score by Jim Rae on 71(6)65 and they were followed closely by Stephen Henderson on 69(2)67(bih); fourth was Thomas Andrew 78(11)67 (2ndbih); and in fifth place was Norman Roxburgh on 73(6)67.     Five players managed to record two’s at the nominated holes, with Norman Roxburgh performing this feat at both the 7th and 18th, whilst Iain Clark; Stephen Henderson and Les McAllister only managed it at the 18th, although it must be said that Iain did pitch in for a two at the ninth, and Stephen had a two at the sixteenth as well.    These players picked up the princely sum of £6 per nominated hole for their efforts.     The entry fee was £3, making a total of £162 from the 54 entrants; £125 was paid out in cash to the winners and £30 to the two’s winners, with £7 going to the contingency fund.
